The Theory of Everything
The Theory of Everything, directed by James Marsh, is a film that talks about the life of Stephen Hawking. We can see the progress of his disease, his love story with Jane Beryl, his scientific discoveries and his life at Cambridge University. In addition, the soundtrack by Johan Johansson accompanies us in the film, making us feel like one more of its characters. The film was released in 2014, four years before Stephen's death, and has a great performance by the famous actor Eddie Redmayne. Although it deals with astrophysics and black holes, it is a movie that everyone can watch. It has won a huge variety of prizes: an Academy Award for the best actor, British Academy Film Awards for the Best Adapted Screenplay, Golden Globe Award for the Best Original Score, World Cinema Gold Award...

Why did I choose this scene?
Despite I would like to study physics in the future and that this movie has been my favorite for years, I think that this scene makes us think and reflect on how our lifes can change in just one second. Seeing how Stephen was studying at one of the best universities in his country, that he had just made one of the greatest discoveries in history and that he had a beautiful love relationship with his girlfriend, his life changed in just a second when he found out that he only had 2 years to live. This scene breaks my heart, as it shows Stephen's suffering and how his mood suddenly changes. The music stops to make the moment more dramatic and it is impossible not to feel hurt by the situation. But it makes us see how love is the most important thing in the world, since Janes takes care of him despite being young and having a whole life to live. She doesn't leave him alone and she always worries about him. Furthermore, he never stops doing what he loves to do, researching about black holes, and pursues his dreams until the end of his days.
